Set in a middle class English home, the action begins on Christmas Eve and carries through to Boxing day in a chapter of incidents. All the insecurities, tensions and frustrations of the family are slowly revealed. The children in the house are seen but not heard, but the adults more than make up for this in practically regressing to their childhoods as the celebrations progress.
