  So Steven Dietz's three-character play Fiction, about the fictions and realities that keep a marriage afloat or don't, is off to a solid start. Irwin and White are such convincing performers that they keep the characters afloat even though their marriage runs onto some brutal rocks. Tom Irwin, Julie White and Emily Bergl star as the New York premiere of Steven Dietz's Fiction, beginning at Roundabout Theatre Company's Off-Broadway home, the Laura Pels Theatre, June 30.The limited engagement is set to open July 25 for a run through Sept. 12 at the venue within The Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. David Warren (Matt & Ben, Barbra's Wedding) directs.Fiction originally commissioned by Seattle's ACT Theatre — where it will enjoy a good run-it centers on two happily married writers who enjoy their honest relationship until they decide to share each other's diaries.
