 In Graeme Murphy’s Beyond Twelve, soon to be seen in our Icons program, a boy moves from romping around practising drop punts to discovering the joys of all-girl company in a ballet class to contemplating life after a successful dance career. It’s a ballet full of humour, sharply observed Australian culture, pathos and sensuality, set to Ravel’s sublime Piano Concerto in G Major.
